Day 43 Aspen

Today we went to Aspen, Colorado. You may know it because of the ski hills or from John Denver’s song “Starwood in Aspen”. As you may have guessed, we went to the John Denver Sanctuary. It was pretty, calm, and quiet (except for the sounds coming from the nearby stream). One of the most remarkable things was that some of his songs that were published were carved into granite boulders. You could go around and read all the lyrics to the songs. Pa and I played our favorite song, “The Eagle and the Hawk”, while sitting near its rock. One of the most touching things was that one of the boulders summarized John’s life. The John Denver Sanctuary was not a huge park, but it made some wonderful memories.
